June 14, 2011: As a member of the Cities of Service coalition and recipient of a Cities of Service Leadership Grant, Pittsburgh is pursuing a plan to harness the power of volunteers in new and innovative ways. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has announced that a new program encouraging city employees to serve as mentors to middle-school students will be part of this effort.
